Slow or no connection to the host computer and virtual machines via Parallels Mobile.

  • Parallels Workstation 6.x
  • Parallels Workstation 6.x Extreme

You are unable to directly connect to the host computer and its virtual machines via Parallels Mobile or you managed to connect via the proxy server but the response is very slow.

The most common reason for this is that connection is blocked by the Windows or Linux Firewall.

The issue has been fixed since Update 1, so please update your Parallels Workstation to the latest build.

If you do not wish to update right now, you may allow Parallels Mobile to connect to your Windows or Linux host operating system.

For Windows 7 and Windows Vista:

  1. Click Start > Control Panel > System and Security > Windows Firewall > Advanced settings.
  2. In the left pane of the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security window, select Inbound Rules and choose New Rule from the Action menu.
  3. In the Rule Type window, select Port and click Next.
  4. Select TCP and type 64000 in the Specific local ports field.
  5. In the Action window, select Allow the connection and click Next.
  6. In the Profile window, make sure that the Domain, Private, and Public check boxes are selected. Click Next.
  7. In the Name window, specify the rule name (for example, Parallels Mobile direct connection) and click Finish.

For Windows XP:

  1. Click Start > Control Panel and double-click Windows Firewall.
  2. In the Windows Firewall window, go to the Exceptions tab and click Add Port.
  3. In the Name field, specify the port name (for example, Parallels Mobile direct connection).
  4. In the Port number field, type 64000.
  5. Select TCP and click OK.
  6. Click OK to close the Windows Firewall window.

For Linux:

  1. Open Terminal and execute the following command (you must have root privileges):
iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 64000
