Due to the nature of Parallels Virtuozzo Containers for Windows virtualization and the design of Windows 2008 and Windows 2008r2, there are several limitations for container migration.
This article describes some preliminary steps that reduce the risk of migration failure.
The source and the destination nodes should be configured to be as similar as is possible. The following conditions are required for correct migration:
Ideally, identical Microsoft update sets should be installed on both nodes. If this is not possible, it is necessary to install all available updates from VZ WSUS. Make sure that the destination node has all updates installed on the source:

- The same Service Pack shall be installed on both source and destination nodes. Note that Service Pack 1 for 2008 R2 is supported only if it is Integrated.
- The same .NET versions should be installed on both nodes.
- The same Internet Explorer versions should be installed on both nodes.
- The same MUI packs should be installed on both nodes. If one node is missing a package (MS update, IE version, etc.), it is better to install it on the node rather than removing it from the other node.
