6. KNOWN ISSUES

The list of limitations and workarounds for Parallels Virtual Automation 4.6 are given bellow:
  • Backups created with Parallels Virtuozzo Containers for Windows 3.5 cannot be restored by Container ID.
Workaround:

1. Find the unique identifier of the backup using the "vzarestore --list -e <VEID> -f" command:

# vzarestore --list -e 102 -f
Show existing backups...
CTID: 102
Title:
Type: full
BackupID: f6e81c2c-beef-4710-9544-56a00ac2ba11/000012bk
Description: Virtuozzo 3.x backup
Parent environment: tmpl6
Size: 14.24 Mb
Creation date: 2010-06-20T155517+0004

2. Restore the Container using the unique identifier:

vzarestore -B -e f6e81c2c-beef-4710-9544-56a00ac2ba11/000012bk2

  • Parallels Management Console does not support searching Container backups.
Workaround: The list of Container backups is present in the Hardware Node in the Backups menu of the navigation tree. You can sort backups by the following parameters: Container name, source node, backup node, backup date, and description.

  • A backup created with Parallels Virtuozzo Containers for Windows 3.5 cannot be restored until a Container with the same ID is deleted from the physical server.
Workaround: Delete the Container with the same ID before restoring the backup.

  • Parallels Management Console does not support management of scheduled tasks.
Workaround: Add the host as a PVA Slave server to the PVA server group and create scheduled tasks by means of the PVA Control Center.

  • PVA 4.6 physical servers cannot be registered in Parallels Management Console by means of SSH.
Workaround: It is possible to register a PVA 4.6 physical server using SSL.

  • Parallels Power Panel is unavailable for PIM 4.0 Slave physical servers registered by the PVA 4.6 Management Node.
Workaround: Upgrade PIM 4.0 physical servers to PVA 4.6.

  • After installing Parallels Virtual Automation 4.6, the path variable in CLI fails to update automatically.
Workaround: Re-logon is required.

  • Parallels Virtual Automation 4.6 cannot be installed on Mac OS X Tiger.
Workaround: Parallels Virtual Automation 4.6 can be installed on Mac OS Snow Leopard.

  • Parallels Virtual Automation 4.6 cannot be installed on RHEL 5.5.
Workaround: Parallels Virtual Automation 4.6 can be installed on RHEL 5.4, or dependency issues should be resolved manually.

  • During virtual machine creation, the "On host startup" settings are lost.
Workaround: The settings should be adjusted manually after the virtual machine's creation.

  • The virtual machine HDD size is automatically set to 1 MB if 1024 GB is specified.
Workaround: The virtual machine HDD size should be set to less than 1024 GB, or prlctl CLI should be used to set the required HDD size.

  • Parallels Virtual Automation 4.6 does not support Parallels Small Business Panel 10.0.
Workaround: Parallels Virtual Automation 4.6 supports Parallels Small Business Panel 10.1.

  • If the source physical server is configured to get the IP address by DHCP, the physical-to-virtual migration fails.
Workaround: Disable the "Get IP by DHCP" setting on the source physical server.

  • A Container password cannot be restored by email.
Workaround: A new password can be set by means of the PVA Control Center.

  • After upgrading from PIM 4.0 to PVA 4.6, Parallels Virtual Automation does not support migration of physical servers to Containers residing on the Parallels Virtuozzo Containers for Linux 4.0 server.
Workaround: This functionality is under development.

  • After upgrading from PIM 4.0 to PVA 4.6, Parallels Virtual Automation does not support configuration of the maximum number of backups on a global level.
Workaround: These settings can be configured manually after the upgrade.
